A word that shows how one thing relates to another (location, direction, time, method, etc.).
In Russian/Ukrainian, prepositions usually pair with specific grammatical cases.

Example:

  • Russian: в + Acc (motion into) vs в + Prep (location in)
  • Ukrainian: в/у + Acc (motion) vs в/у + Loc (location)

A recurring character component used for indexing and often for semantic hints in Chinese characters.
