Memory Strategy

This is the execution layer that sits above individual mnemonic techniques.

  1. Pick a narrow target set.
  2. Encode with a suitable mnemonic technique.
  3. Place and index information so it can be retrieved fast.
  4. Review daily with low-friction reps.
  5. Test in real recall conditions (reading/speaking).
  6. Refine based on failures.

I reference demonstrations by Dr. Yip Swee Chooi as proof that high-density indexed recall is trainable.
The goal here is not to copy one method exactly, but to apply the same principles in a sustainable workflow.

  • memory palaces (spatial indexing)
  • Major System (number indexing)
  • sound and meaning imagery
  • language-specific layers (tones, radicals, character decomposition)
  • spaced repetition (Anki)
  • faster recall with fewer prompts
  • stable retention after delays
  • reliable transfer into active language use
