Methodology

  • prove the method works first
  • prioritize recall over passive exposure
  • keep the system sustainable
  • use daily repetition to prevent decay
  1. Select a small set of new words.
  2. Encode each word with imagery (meaning + sound + marker).
  3. Place each image in a memory palace locus.
  4. Walk the palace and retrieve.
  5. Add cards to Anki for long-term spacing.
  6. Use words in reading/speaking as soon as possible.
  • Major System for number-based indexing (for page mapping and references).
  • Character decomposition (for logographic languages like Mandarin).
  • Radical study for structural recognition.
  • Speaking sessions to test active recall under pressure.

This system should serve real language use. If a tool or process adds friction without improving recall, simplify it.
